  • Facial acupuncture is an anti-ageing and skin health treatment. It promotes healthy facial blood circulation to reveal your true radiant complexion. The treatment involves using ultra fine needles to stimulate collagen production, blood flow, and to stimulate acupuncture points to correct the flow of energy to restore the body to balance.

Facial acupuncture is safe and gentle, supporting the body’s natural healing processes. “Beauty is the light in the heart, expressed in the face”.

Facial acupuncture aims to leave you feeling relaxed and looking like the best version of yourself. Treatments aim to support overall health as a means to reduce signs of cellular aging.

  • Skin from within

Achieving a beautiful complexion is always grounded in supporting your overall health. For example, we may work on improving your digestion to improve your nutritional status so that the facial skin and structures are well nourished with essential fatty acids, amino acids and water.

    Local stimulation

Needling creates a microtrauma which stimulates collagen/elastin production, smoothing out fine lines and firming the skin. It also restores the tone of facial muscles and improves circulation of blood and lymph for a tighter, glowing face.

  • Treatments may:

    • Reduce appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

    • Soften deeper lines

    • Brighten a lustreless appearance

    • Hydrate dry skin

    • Improve firmness and elasticity

    • Relax muscular tension

    • Help to balance asymmetries (Bell's Palsy, natural laxities and tension of the face)

    • Encourage circulation and removal of cellular debris for skin congestion and pigmentation

    • Soften scarring (excluding keloid)

    • Reduce darkness and puffiness around the eyes

    • Improve symptoms of allergic rhinitis and sinus congestion

    • Improve acne and rosacea.

  • Treatment plans for facial acupuncture are based on age, health status and skin type. 6 - 10 weekly treatments are recommended for visible changes and maintained with monthly visits.

Expected achievable outcomes are explained with transparency.

  • Facial acupuncture is not recommended for people with these conditions:

    • During Pregnancy

    • High blood pressure

    • Severe migraines or headaches

    • Those taking blood thinning medication

    • Skin that has been lasered or peeled in the past 2 weeks

    • Broken or weeping skin (cold sores, cuts, infections)

    • Avoid over the counter blood thinning medication (aspirin, ibuprofen) 12 hours prior.

Dr Alice will assess your suitability for facial acupuncture during the appointment.

  • Yes.

Areas which have been injected will be avoided or needled superficially to avoid interference i.e., we can concentrate on the nasolabial folds or jawline if the forehead has been injected.

  • Facial acupuncture is generally painless.

Ultra fine (0.12-0.16mm) high-quality Japanese needles are used for a smooth, painless treatment. On occasion you may feel a slight prick on insertion which quickly dissipates

Comfort is of high priority which is why we purchase the best quality Japanese facial needles. Combined with careful acupuncture techniques, the experience is gentle, relaxing and reduces the risk of bruising, swelling and spot bleeding.

  • A light flush can be expected post treatment due to increased blood flow. Minor bruising may occur however, this should ease within five days. If you have an event to attend, please leave a week’s buffer to account for this.

Makeup application: I advise avoiding makeup for 4 hours after a session.
